The delegation from Uzbekistan included Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov, as well as heads of various ministries and departments.
In a constructive manner, the parties assessed the progress of implementing current agreements and discussed measures to expedite work on new investment projects.
The parties expressed satisfaction that Uzbekistan has been the EBRD's largest partner in the region for the past five years. During this period, the Bank has invested 4.5 billion euros, with 70% allocated to the development of the private sector.
For reference, since the commencement of its operations in Uzbekistan, the Bank has approved financing for 173 projects and programs across various sectors of the economy, totaling over EUR 5.4 billion. Of these, 20 projects valued at EUR 1.9 billion have been successfully implemented, while work is currently underway on 14 projects worth EUR 3.5 billion. Additionally, pre-project documentation for 29 projects, amounting to EUR 3.6 billion, is nearing completion.
The strategic focus areas of the Bank's activities, outlined in its Strategy for 2024-2029, align with the objectives of Uzbekistan's Strategy 2030. Both parties believe that this alignment facilitates the active development of cooperation by leveraging the Bank's financial and technical assistance in priority sectors on a non-sovereign basis.
In this context, projects aimed at supporting the private sector were discussed in detail. These included initiatives for women's and youth entrepreneurship, the development of the banking sector, education, healthcare, and the modernization of water supply systems, particularly through public-private partnerships.
The head of the EBRD delegation expressed a willingness to further increase investment volumes in the discussed areas, including new projects in the green economy and direct investments in the corporate sector as part of the cooperation agenda.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to fostering constructive and mutually beneficial relationships, increasing the number of joint projects being implemented, and exploring new areas of collaboration.
